yum. Gluten Free: Hi lovely Thea! Thank you so much for sitting down with us today. Can you tell us a bit more about The Kitchen Whizz and how it began?

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for having me! TKW offers face-to-face education, kitchen consultations and cooking lessons in Brisbane, QLD. Our aim is to educate and empower people with the resources and skills to eat and live well! The business began after seeing a real need for more hands on cooking and kitchen education. Unfortunately, there is a plethora of inaccurate nutrition information and cheap and nasty meal options available. We felt a deep responsibility to create a program that offers advice that will allow people to take control of their nutrition and ultimately their lives.

ygf: I could not agree more. And I am so grateful for powerhouses, like you two, to create amazing programs like this one! How did you come up with the name?

The word ‘whizz’ is defined as someone who is extremely clever at something. How awesome is it to feel confident and crafty at a skill that is so important to us? It’s fact that not everyone loves spending time in the kitchen, but knowing how to cook nourishing meals and snacks, as well as being confident in the kitchen, affects not only our health but also our wellbeing and ultimately our happiness. Ultimately, we want everyone to feel like a WHIZZ in the kitchen.

ygf: I could not agree more! Especially as we’re learning more about gut health, food intolerances and more… it can be so overwhelming! What are your key inclusions for a healthy pantry?

Some of our healthy pantry items are:

  • Oils (coconut oil, olive oil)
  • Sweetners (rice malt syrup, medjool dates, honey, natvia)
  • Nuts (almonds, cashews, macadamias)
  • Nut & seed butters (peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, tahini)
  • Flours (almond meal, buckwheat flour, coconut flour)
  • Spices (chilli flakes, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric
  • Grass fed butter
  • Coconut milk, coconut yoghurt
  • Sea Salt
  • Apple Cider Vinegar

ygf: All items readily available at your standard grocery store! Do you discuss food intolerances in the program?

All of our recipes are 100% gluten free and refined sugar free. From here we work with the individual and cater to all intolerances including nuts, eggs, FODMAPs, nightshades and histamine. We educate our audience on how just eat real food and how to personalise this for sustainability and longevity.

ygf: That is excellent to hear. The food world can be quite overwhelming so it’s fantastic that you can work within pretty much anyone’s needs. What can we expect when we sign up to TKW?

When signing up to The Kitchen Whizz you have three options to choose from. Each of these options includes:

  • Real food shopping tour
  • Cooking Lessons
  • 2-week fully customised menu plan
  • Customised grocery list
  • Supplier list
  • The Source Bulk Foods Tote Bag
  • $50 worth of cooking ingredients so you are ready to go!

Depending what program you sign up to, you’ll book in for multiple sessions with me (Thea) which means we won’t be rushing through the process, and you’ll finish your consult feeling empowered and like a whizz!

ygf: So many amazing items to kick off, like a true whizz! What’s the best part about TKW?

The best part of our business is the hands on cooking lessons. We go into your own home and use the equipment you already own to make the meals. We aren’t giving you advice over a computer, but rather face-to-face which is SO important when learning how to cook and prepare real food. We are real people with our own food stories – we understand it takes time to adapt to cooking and eating real food. We will be with you EVERY step of the journey.

ygf: So we don’t have to buy any additional appliances?? Sweet! What is your interest in the health industry and how does it relate to your product?

Our passion is in real food and teaching the world how simple, delicious, cost-effective and time efficient it can be. TKW was born to allow us to show you hands on, the skills you need to nourish your body now and into the future.

ygf: I’m sold! How do I sign up to The Kitchen Whizz?

All bookings are done online at www.thekitchenwhizz.com.au – however feel free to Thea on 0448844470 for any questions or more information.

Empowering and personalised kitchen and real food education.

ygf: Tell us a bit more about yourself, Thea. What’s your #1 health tip?

Just. Eat Real. Food (JERF). Food that comes out of the ground, off a tree or from an animal is always the most nutrient dense and whole food source of nutrition. An anti-inflammatory approach free of gluten, refined sugars and trans fats will optimise your health, energy levels, hormones, performance and exercise recovery.

ygf: So true! So happy you’re here to educate how to make a JERF life a reality! What makes TKW unique?

What makes us unique is not only our incredible content, but also the recipes themselves. These are truly simple, no-fuss recipes that are so delicious and quick to prepare. We have a no-fuss approach to our cooking and understand that people don’t have hours to spend in the kitchen. We want to help you learn how to cook and eat real food in the best, most simplistic way possible.

ygf: I love to hear that! As much as I personally enjoy cooking, there seems to be little time left to spend in the kitchen these days. And, just for fun, what’s one word that sums you up?

‘Whizz’ards! (of the friendly, fun & food variety, of course).

ygf: Yes!! Perfect! What is your vision for the future? Anything exciting in the pipeline?

Once Brisbane consultations are well underway, we plan on expanding The Kitchen Whizz into every state of Australia. Melbourne isn’t too far off!

ygf: Thank you so much for your time, lovely. How do our readers stay in touch with you?
