Steph runs her business out of Melbourne and has been a practicing Nutritionist for almost a decade. Her experience and knowledge in real food living and sports nutrition is revolutionary. yum. Gluten Free: Hi lovely Thea! Thank you so much for sitting down with us today. Can you tell us a bit more about The Kitchen Whizz and how it began?
Hi everyone! Thanks so much for having me! TKW offers face-to-face education, kitchen consultations and cooking lessons in Brisbane, QLD. Our aim is to educate and empower people with the resources and skills to eat and live well! The business began after seeing a real need for more hands on cooking and kitchen education. Unfortunately, there is a plethora of inaccurate nutrition information and cheap and nasty meal options available. We felt a deep responsibility to create a program that offers advice that will allow people to take control of their nutrition and ultimately their lives.
ygf: I could not agree more. And I am so grateful for powerhouses, like you two, to create amazing programs like this one! How did you come up with the name?
The word ‘whizz’ is defined as someone who is extremely clever at something. How awesome is it to feel confident and crafty at a skill that is so important to us? It’s fact that not everyone loves spending time in the kitchen, but knowing how to cook nourishing meals and snacks, as well as being confident in the kitchen, affects not only our health but also our wellbeing and ultimately our happiness. Ultimately, we want everyone to feel like a WHIZZ in the kitchen.
ygf: I could not agree more! Especially as we’re learning more about gut health, food intolerances and more… it can be so overwhelming! What are your key inclusions for a healthy pantry?
Some of our healthy pantry items are:
- Oils (coconut oil, olive oil)
- Sweetners (rice malt syrup, medjool dates, honey, natvia)

ygf: All items readily available at your standard grocery store! Do you discuss food intolerances in the program?
All of our recipes are 100% gluten free and refined sugar free. From here we work with the individual and cater to all intolerances including nuts, eggs, FODMAPs, nightshades and histamine. We educate our audience on how just eat real food and how to personalise this for sustainability and longevity.
ygf: That is excellent to hear. The food world can be quite overwhelming so it’s fantastic that you can work within pretty much anyone’s needs. What can we expect when we sign up to TKW?

We aren’t giving you advice over a computer, but rather face-to-face which is SO important when learning how to cook and prepare real food. We are real people with our own food stories – we understand it takes time to adapt to cooking and eating real food. We will be with you EVERY step of the journey.

ygf: Tell us a bit more about yourself, Thea. What’s your #1 health tip?

Once Brisbane consultations are well underway, we plan on expanding The Kitchen Whizz into every state of Australia. Melbourne isn’t too far off!
